Earlier this week, I was scheduled to fly an early morning PHX-DFW-PHX series of flights. Upon our arrival in DFW, we learned from pilot scheduling that our return flight (DFW-PHX) was being changed some what.
We were now being asked to wait in DFW for a few hours and fly an empty A319 back to PHX. It turns out that this A319 had spent the night in DFW due to an abnormal maintenance issue. It needed to be returned to PHX so that it could be put back into regular revenue service. In the mean time, a reserve flight crew was going to fly my regular revenue flight back to PHX.
So, the First Officer (copilot) and I stepped off of our A319 and went into the terminal in search of some breakfast! It would be about two-hours before the new A319 was ready for our return flight to PHX.
After our breakfast, we started prepping the new A319 for our flight to PHX and soon departed DFW. A nice easy flight back along with a few left turns and right turns to avoid the summer weather. Did I tell you I really like the Airbus sunshades? They’re well designed and work very well! Much better than the other manufacturer we all know! 🙂
After we arrived in PHX, operations asked us to park the A319 at the airline’s maintenance hangar – which we did.
This is where they wanted us to park the A319.
Here we are in the A319 awaiting the ramp crew to guide us into the parking spot. The picture was taken by PHX maintenance personnel. After we parked the A319, the First Officer and I went home.
We returned the following morning to resume our original three-day trip.
